Here comes the 6th interview:
Name: Sasha Wendland
Where were you born: In Munich, Germany, February 21st 1965.
Where were you raised?: In Munich, Germany.
What is your familystatus?: I am single and have no children.
When did you start playing golf?: In 2007.
Why did you start playing golf?: Just out of interest. I used to play tennis, but wanted to try something else.
Which one do you prefer parkland or links style courses? Both.
How many golfcourses are in Germany? I am not sure but I would guess they´re about the same as in France. Maybe 600-800. (Good guess Sasha! According to KPMG golfcourses in Germany 2011, are 708 – but Germany has more golfcourses than France, which has 578)
What is your favorite golfcourse in Germany? The course at Golf Club Schloß Maxlrein, it used to be a brewerie. It´s a golfcourse close to Chiemsee, in Bavaria
What is your favorite golfcourse anywhere in the world except for Germany? Costa GC Adeje in Tenerife.
What is the most special golfcourse you have played golf on and why? I haven´t played that many in the 4 years since I started playing golf but I would say Abama in Tenerife because of the scenery and view over the sea. It´s fun playing golf on an island.
What is your handicap? 35.
What is your lowest score and on what golfcourse did you achieve it? I don´t remember.
Have you participated in any other sport? Tennis.
Maybe this is a steriotypical question, you being from Germany, but what is your favorite soccer team? 1860 München.
What is your favorite food, your favorite drink, your favorite music, your favorite movie and you favorite book? My favorite food is charcoaled grilled stuff; my favorite drink beer (almost an obligatory answer being from Germany!); favorite music is rock; my favorite movie is The Elephant Man and my favorite book is Der Medicus by Noah Gordon.
What is your favorite German golfer name one male and one female? I´m closer to Angela Merkel than any golfer. (In other words Sasha has no favorite golfers, since he´s not in the same political party as Merkel).
What is your favortie international golfer (any other than German ones): Never thought about it.
What is your favorite club? 7-iron.
Have you noticed an increase in interest in the sport of golf in Germany? Maybe. Well, no not really it´s considered to be elitarian – a rich peoples sport – but it´s slowly changing with golfers like Sandra Gal and Martin Kaymer.
What do you like the best about golf? The landscape – I like golfcourses – I wanna feel something good in my heart when I look at a beautiful landscape – I want to spend beautiful time in a beautiful landscape. I like people who teach well and know golf.
At last: What´s your main goal in life? To stay healthy.
