Fannar Ingi Steingrímsson is an amazing 14 year old Icelandic golfer!

Fannar Ingi Steingrímsson is only 14 years old, yet he is at this young age one of Iceland´s most promising young golfers.

He is from a beautiful town in the South of Iceland, Hveragerði, which is famous for its numerous hot springs and fumaroles. Even when you play the golfcourse of Hveragerði, which is called Gufudalsvöllur (lit: fume valley course) you can see several of the many fumaroles in this very active geothermal area. Hveragerði is also known as the „flowertown” in Iceland, whereas in several greenhouses flowers, fruit and vegetables are grown all year round;  heated up with the hot water, which is abundant in the area.  Also it´s a town known for its health spa.

But back to Fannar Ingi, who only 13 year old, in 2012, became GHG´s (short for the Golf Club of Hveragerði) Club Champion – not only in his age group, but overall – and GHG has some pretty talented golfers.

Just before Christmas, on December 22nd 2012 Fannar Ingi participated in the US Kids Holiday Classic tournament on the Palmer golfcourse in Palm Beach Gardens, in Florida.  He won the tournament!!!

On New Years Eve it´s a tradition to have a golftournament in GHG. When there is snow on the golfcourse the members of the Golf Club have a putting competion indoors and so it was the case this year.  And guess who won this years putting competition? – Who else but Fannar Ingi! He is simply amazing!
