Helgi Birkir Þórisson and Ásgeir Eiríksson won in the golftournament in Sandgerði – Iceland – January 12th 2013!!!

It must come as a surprise that golftournaments are being held in Iceland in the middle of winter in a temperature of 0° Celsius / 32 Fahrenheit).  The road from Hafnarfjörður to Sandgerði was so slippery that when Golf 1´s reporter drove it, she passed by 3 car accidents, where cars had weered off the icy road.

Yet, it is not astonishing that a golftournment is being held, once conditions to have one reach the minimum, considering the huge amount of interest there is in playing golf in Iceland.

In yesterday´s (January 12th 2013) golftournament in Sandgerði 94 golfers (thereof 7 women) competed in Stroke play and according to the Stabbleford points system.
