Tonights interview is with Alastair Kent a member of the Elite a closed 20 member group of low handicap golfers who are members of the Golf Club of Reykjavík (abbreviated: GR). The goal of the Elite is to have weekly meetings i.e. to play golf and have fun. Here goes the interview:
What is your name?: Alastair Kent
What Golf Club are you a member of in Iceland?: The Golf Club of Reykjavík.

What is your family status and does anyone in your family play golf? My Dad plays golf and my twin 10 year old girls are learning.
When did you start playing golf? I played golf from 13 years old to 18, then I took 10 years off before getting started again.
Why did you start playing golf? My Dad played.
What is your occupation? I am the regional sales manager for Marel in Iceland.
What do you prefer parkland or links type courses? Parkland courses – I miss them here (in Iceland).
What do you prefer match play og stroke play? Strokeplay.
What are your favorite golfcourses in Iceland? The Grafarholt golf course (one of GR´s 3 golfcourses).

What is your favorite golfcourse anywhere in the world? St. Andrews in Scotland.

What is the most special golfcourse you have played on and why? The Forest Of Arden UK, amazing back 9 with deer’s roaming the fairway, and Bangalore Golf Club, India. I had my own caddie, his handicap was 3.8

What is your handicap? 9,1.
What is your lowest score and on which golfcourse did you achieve it? 76 in Grafarholt. I got 13 pars and 5 bogeys.

What snack do you have in the bag? Water and a roast beef sandwich.
Have you participated in any other sports? Running, cycling, football, cricket, athletics, rugby, badminton, squash……etc.
What is your favorite food, favorite drink, favorite music, favorite movie and favorite book? My favorite food is Icelandic lamb; my favorite drink is Makers Mark Bourbon; my favorite music is anything with Oasis; my favorite movie is: The Godfather my favorite book is: Wonderland Avenue by Danny Sugarman.

Who are your favorite golfer name 1 male and 1 female? Female.: Ragnhildur Sigurðardóttir (might get some discount on lessons). Male: Seve.
What would be your dream foursome? Me and ….. Seve, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood.
What´s in the bag, what is your favorite club and why is that club your favorite one? In my bag are Mizuno MP63´s. My 6 iron, is my “Prozac” club.
Have you been to a golfinstructor? Yes, Ragnhildur Sigurðardóttir, she’s quality.

Are you superstitious? No.
What is your maingoal in golf and life? In golf it´s to enjoy every round, good or bad. In life: Be grateful, live with humor, stay healthy and collect “magic moments” every day.
What do you like the best about golf? Golf is the best equalizer.
How large a percentage do you estimate that the mental side of your game is when you compete? Far too high.
At last: Do you have some good advice that you can give golfers? Don’t play Helgi Dan Steinsson for money, and always remember even when you shoot over 100, focus on the one.
