The Cádiz Cup 2011

This year, Cádiz Turismo in Spain invited travel agents who offer golftrips on the golfcourses around Cádiz, as well as golfwriters to the annual Cádiz Cup. The Invitational dates back to the year 2005, but this time it was being held on May 5th 2011 at the golfcourse of Arcos Gardens. Participants from Iceland this time were the travel agency Heimsferðir and this golfnews website: Golf1.is. Introducing Icelandic golfer: Nökkvi Gunnarsson

Nökkvi Gunnarsson is a 35 year old PGA teaching pro at Nesklúbburinn in Seltjarnarnes. He participated in the OGA (Open Golf America) Tour in Florida and on the 4th day of the tournament, on December 20th 2011 he won with a score of 69. Do you know the meaning of the Icelandic word „golf-cool-a” ?

If you decide to come to Iceland for a golfbreak it might come in handy to know a few basic golf terms in Icelandic. The name for club in Icelandic is kylfa (pron: kill-va) and the name for golfball is either golfbolti or golfkúla (pron.: golf-cool-a). There is an ongoing debate whether to use the word golfbolti or golfkúla for golfball in Icelandic. The Icelandic Golf Association has translated the term golfball or ball with golfbolti or bolti in the Icelandic translation of the Rules of R&A. Introducing Icelandic golfer: Birgir Leifur Hafþórsson

Icelandic golfer, Birgir Leifur Hafþórsson, is currently in Pinehurst North-Carolina participating in PGA´s 1. stage Q-school. He is trying to become the first Icelandic golfer to get his card on the PGA Tour. In a field of 76, Birgir Leifur is fighting it out against a.o. PGA veteran Brent Delahoussaye and Spains Antonio Garcia Heredia, who has been playing on the European Tour this past 2011 season.
