Iceland one of 10 happiest countries in the world!

According to a newly published article Iceland is one of the 10 happiest countries in the world. You can see the article by CLICKING HERE:  The reasons given are debatable: low income tax? In Iceland? Free Health Care and University Education? Not so! Health Care is paid for by the Tax Payers and it´s PAID for – Well but virtually free University Education and in comparison to Universities and Colleges f.x. in the US it´s definately free albeit a minor admissions fee has to be paid to most of Icelands 10 Universities or Schools that teach at University level. Íris Katla met Iceland´s favorite: Adam Scott

No. 11 in the world rankings Adam Scott met 23 year old Iris Katla Guðmundsdóttir, from the Golf Club of Reykjavík (GR) and the accompanying picture was taken on that occasion: The photo was taken on a practice round of PGA Tour players who are competing in the Wells Fargo Championship this week, which as usual takes place at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. LET Access: Ólafía Þórunn 5th – Valdís Þóra T-7 at the ASGI Ladies Open in Switzerland

Icelandic pros Ólafía Þórunn Kristinsdóttir of The Golf Club of Reykjavík (abbr. GR) and Valdís Þóra Jónsdóttir, from the Golf Club Leynir in Akranes (abbr. GL) had a great finish ath the ASGI Championship which concluded in Switzerland on May 9th 2015. The tournament was a part of the 2nd tier developmental Women´s Golf Series in Europe, LET Access. Ólafía Þórunn who had the lead after the 2nd round, ended in fifth place, with a total of 5 under par, 211 strokes (70 66 75).  This is Ólafía´s best performance in the 4 tournaments she has played in the LET Access Series. Nordic Golf League: Birgir Leifur finished T-8 in Denmark

The 2014 Icelandic Champion in stroke play, Birgir Leifur Hafþórsson, GKG, and Ólafur Björn Loftsson, GKG took part in the NorthSide Charity Challenge which is part of the Nordic Golf League, the biggest Scandinavian Tournament Series. The tournament took place on the Lyngbygaard Golf Course in Brabrand, Denmark on May 6th-8th 2015. There were 156 participants. Unfortunatelly Ólafur Björn didn´t make the cut this time but Birgir Leifur on the other hand excelled. Birgir Leifur played a total of 2 under par 214 strokes (68 75 71) and ended up T-8. Congrats Iris Katla!

Íris Katla Guðmundsdóttir, from the Golf Club Reykjavík (GR) has been studying at Queens University, in Charlotte, North-Carolina for the past 3 years. During her stay she has played golf with the women´s golf team „The Royals” which she is now leaving. She has graduated and is returning to Iceland. Íris Katla is born on February 10th 1992. A wonderful way to promote Garðavöll … on a lorry!

Golf 1 became aware of a strange lorry which drove through Hafnarfjörður. On one side of the vehicle there was a huge and beautiful advertisement for Park course (Icelandic: Garðavöllur) in Akranes (in the western part of Iceland).  What a wonderful way to promote golf and the beautiful and good golf course Garðavöllur is! Íris Katla says good bye to Queens

Íris Katla Guðmundsdóttir, GR (Golf Club of Reykjavík Iceland) who has been studying and playing golf with The Royals, the women´s golfteam of Queen University in Charlotte, N-Carolina, is saying farewell to her team and teammates after 3 years  in the States.
