12 Icelandic teenagers participated in the Finnish International Junior Championship – Gísli Sveinbergsson claimed 2nd place!!!
There were twelve contestants from Iceland playing in the annual Finnish International Junior Championship tournament which took place June 26th-28th 2013 in June Cooke stadium in Vierumäki, Finland. There were 4 categories boys and girls 15-16 yrs and boys and girls 14 yrs and younger. There were 102 Finns who competed along with an international contestants from a total of 54 countries from all over the world, a.o. from Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Turkey a.s.o. Ólafía Þórunn is Icelandic Champion in Match Play 2013
This weekend, June 21st-23rd 2013, The Icelandic Championship in Match Play took place on Hamarsvöllur, Borgarnes in the western part of Iceland. Icelandic Champion in Match Play is Ólafía Þórunn Kristinsdóttir, GR (Golf Club Reykjavík). Ólafía Þórunn also plays for the Wake Forest golf team in North-Carolina. Introducing: Guðrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir
Guðrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir is simply one of Icelands best female golfers. She is now 19 (born March 25th 1994) and has had an absolutely stunning amateur career in the junior league here in Iceland. Last year she for example became Icelandic Junior Champion in Stroke Play her 6th connsecutive year. Actually she also captured the 2012 Junior Championship title in Match Play in her agegroup last year aswell, as in many years before. Guðrún Brá and Signý participated in the Spanish Int. Ladies Championship
Icelandic golfers Guðrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir and Signý Arnórsdóttir both from Golf Club Keilir (abbrev.: GK) in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland participated in the Spanish International Ladies Championship, which took place May 10th-12th at the beautiful Las Colinas Golf Course in, Alicante, Spain. Ólafia Þórunn made it to the NCAA Championship
Icelander Ólafía Þórunn Kristinsdóttir, GR, took part along with Wake Forest´s golfteam in the NCAA D1 Central Regional which was being held at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, in Austin, Oklahoma May 9.-11 2013. The tournament´s finalround took place the day before yesterday. Participants in the tournament were 126 from 24 Universities. Ólafía Þórunn made it to the NCAA Championship, since she finished in joined 8th place and played the best of her team mates at Wake Forest. We are all extremely proud of her, here in Iceland! Ólafur Björn Loftsson T-1 at OGA´s Ridgewood Lakes tournament
Icelandic golf professional Ólafur Björn Loftsson, Golf Club Nes in Iceland, won yesterday, February 6th 2013, his 2nd victory as a professional on the OGA series (One Golf America). This was a 1 day tournament and Ólafur Björn was tied for 1st place along with Lloyd Campbell from England and both received a check for $ 300. Ólafur Björn Loftsson in 17th place in the Citrus Open in Florida
Ólafur Björn Loftsson, a professional Icelandic golfer, a member of the Golf Club Nes (Icelandic: Nesklúbburinn) in Iceland participated in the Citrus Open tournament, which was held January 29th- 31st 2013 at the Rio Pinar golfcourse in Orlando, Florida. The difference between golf in the North and South of Iceland in January 2013
Tomorrow, Saturday, January 19th 2013 there is the 2nd golf tournament scheduled in Sandgerði in the South of Iceland, this year, 2013. Already 100 golfers have entered the tournament, which will be held if the weather allows. The forcast says it is gonna rain a little and the temperature will be around 0-5°C (about 32-41° Fahrenheit). In the North, East and West of Iceland everything, including golf courses are covered in snow and there is no chance to play golf unless in golf simulators, which are extremely popular during this time of year.
