Ólafía Þórunn is Icelandic Champion in Match Play 2013

This weekend, June 21st-23rd 2013, The Icelandic Championship in Match Play took place on Hamarsvöllur, Borgarnes in the western part of Iceland.

Icelandic Champion in Match Play is Ólafía Þórunn Kristinsdóttir, GR (Golf Club Reykjavík). Ólafía Þórunn also plays for the Wake Forest golf team in North-Carolina.

She won Tinna Jóhannsdóttir from Golf Club Keilir in Hafnarfjörður in the Championship Match 2&1.

At the time Golf 1 had the abovementioned interview with Ólafía Þórunn, she had just completed a grand feat in 2011, when she became both Icelandic Champion in Match Play and Stroke Play.

It remains to be seen whether there will be a repetition of Ólafía´s success in 2011 – since the Icelandic Championship in Stroke Play is not until approximately in a months time i.e. in July 25th, and then on Ólafía´s hometurf, so to speak, as the golfcourse being played is Korpa, the new and only 27 hole golfcourse of Golf Club Reykjavík, where Ólafía is a member.

As for the Icelandic Championship in Match Play 2013  Signý Arnórsdóttir, from Golf Club Keilir in Hafnarfjörður claimed 3rd place as she won her match against club mate from Golf Club Keilir, Anna Sólveig Snorradóttir.
