The Lancôme tournament at Golf Club Hella – May 6th 2012
Last Sunday, May 6th 2012, Golf Club Hella at Rangárvellir (GHR) in Iceland, held its 13th annual all women´s tournament sponsored by French Cosmetics Giant Lancôme. This tournament marks the beginning of the Golf Season for many Women Golfers here in Iceland.

GHR will celebrate its 60th birthday on June 22nd 2012. It is after the Golf Club´s in Reykjavík, Akureyri and Vestmannaeyjar, the oldest Golf Club in Iceland.
There were 96 participants this time who competed as usual in the Lancôme tournament in 3 different handicap catigories: No. 1 those with handicap 0-14; no. 2 hcp. 14,1-25 and no. 3 hcp. 25.1-36. The winners this year were Björg Traustadóttir Club Champion at Golf Club Ólafsfjörður (from the North of Iceland) (hcp 0-14); Ásdís Helgadóttir from the Golf Club Setberg (GSE) (hcp. 14.1-25) and Valgerður Jónsdóttir, the Golf Club Oddur (GO) (hcp. 25.1-36).

The golfcourse of GHR is called Strandarvöllur. When you come to Iceland you should absolutely make it a point to play golf on this gorgeous par-70, 18 hole golfcourse, which has world known volcano Hekla as a backdrop. There is nowhere else in the world except in GHR where you can play golf close to Hekla.
